The team execution challenge was centered on applying Joyner’s principles of Simpleology to the creation of a new web page that would serve to reach a new market with the Simpleology program. The winning team received a lifetime subscription to all Simpleology products. The losing team joined Joel Comm, Mark Joyner and Cresta Pillsbury (of HackerSafe) in the Judgment room, where two team members were targeted for elimination.

RECAP by ALISANDE
INTRODUCTION
Twelve contestants arrived in Loveland Colorado to battle it out and escape elimination in the hopes of winning $25,000 and a joint venture business opportunity with Joel Comm, the Producer of the show, to make millions of dollars on the internet.
The day started out with a Limo ride to McCoy’s Morning Glory Restaurant for a getting acquainted breakfast between the contestants.
Fading into the first contestant to introduce himself, Nico Pisani comments on one of his goals to share his 10 years of experience doing business in Latin America through the internet.
During the ride to breakfast, Nico reads a welcoming letter sent by Joel Comm to the contestants about their upcoming adventure. This was also the first time the contestants were introduced to “E-Commerce Chips,” which would somehow be used for leverage during the competition.
At the breakfast, we hear Thor Schrock briefly talk about one of the organizations he would donate to should he win the competition.
Nico and Thor express different viewpoints about the US in separate interviews, will their views create possible contention between these two?
We then see the second introduction of the show, Jason Henderson. Jason comments on his size, a size which makes Charles Trippy apprehensive…in the meantime, Jason Henderson is not nervous about anything at all.
Charles Trippy’s introduction comes next. He confirms that his name is not a stage name but very real. He also talks about his unique name as well as a few words he dislikes being used in the internet world.
After breakfast it was time to head to the COMMplex…
HACKER SAFE CHALLENGE – 1 Minute Speech on The Next Internet Millionaire
Joel Comm is excited and happy to meet the contestants for the first time. He introduces the “Hacker Safe” challenge as the individual performance challenge the contestants will be faced with at the beginning of each day. The “Hacker Safe” Challenge, named in honour of one of the sponsoring companies of The Next Internet Millionaire, provides a “safe” immune day for the contestant who wins the Challenge; that contestant cannot be eliminated from the competition that day.
Cresta Pillsbury from Hacker Safe is introduced. We find out that Hacker Safe currently certifies over 100,000 websites on the internet, partnered with Visa International providing security in 79 countries, and is the only trustmark to go into Yahoo Shopping. Customers know they can expect the highest standards of security when a company is certified by Hacker
Safe; especially in an age of security risk.
Contestants had 5 minutes to get to know each other’s backgrounds in order to give a 1 minute presentation to the group as to why their partner will be the Next Internet Millionaire
The partners presented about each other in this order:
Debbie Ducic (representing Nico Pisani)
Jason Henderson (representing Laura Martin)
Alisande Chan (representing Charles Trippy)
Steve Schuitt (representing Christine Schaap)
Carly Taylor (representing Thor Schrock)
Jason Marshall (representing Jaime Luchuck)
Jaime Luchuck (representing Jason Marshall)
Charles Trippy (representing Alisande Chan)
Christine Schaap (representing Steve Schuitt)
Nico Pisani (representing Debbie Ducic)
Thor Schrock (representing Carly Taylor)
Laura Martin (representing Jason Henderson)
Interspersed with the presentations, we are introduced to a few more of the contestants.

Alisande Chan talks about realizing her self worth, the value of herself, and feeling unstoppable.
Carly Taylor speaks of her aspiring nine year old Internet Marketer who wants to emulate his mom.
Jaime Luchuck tells us she is excited to learn and briefly explains what she does for a living.

Debbie Ducic describes herself as a team builder who doesn’t want to stab anyone in the back.
Laura Martin announces she is very SINGLE and happy that her family can see what she does as an internet marketer.
Judge’s Critiques on Individual Presentations
After the presentations, Joel critiques the overall impression of the presentations. He mentions some were polished, some
were not, some spoke of passion, and others spoke of accomplishments. All the elements the judges Joel Comm and Cresta Pillsbury were looking for were found in Jason Marshall’s speech and so he was awarded the first Hacker Safe T-Shirt of the show.
Jason Marshall now immune for the day from elimination, also receives a 1 year complimentary subscription to Hacker Safe to be used on a website.
Joel Comm further surprises the contestants by announcing they will all receive brand new laptop computers for making it as a contestant on The Next Internet Millionaire.
Contestant’s Thoughts..
Jason Marshall then introduces himself and speaks of his One-on-One Aid position working with a 12 year old who has muscular dystrophy. He also explains that his passions in life are based on his religious beliefs.
Christine Schaap speaks of her husband and 5 children, their excitement for their mom, and her passion to help others. She also explains how she use to be intimidated by public speaking to the point of physical illness.
Jason Marshall speaks briefly about the excitement of winning the first task and his happiness that everyone received a laptop as well as him.
MARK JOYNER ON SIMPLEOLOGY
The first law of Simpleology: The Law of Straight Lines - the shortest path to where we are and where we want to be in our life is a straight line.
Every extra action a person takes that is not focused on the task at hand takes them down a non straight path and makes their efforts inefficient. By being able to simplify and see the steps a person needs to act on to get a target done, the more they can accomplish in less time.
One way to do this can be done using free Simpleology software and organizing our day with a Daily Target Praxis; more information can be found at www.The DailySystem.com. Having a “DTP,” will help us filter out “time-wasters” or not-so-urgent tasks, from really important tasks; thereby helping us focus on the tasks that will help us get closer to our major targets.
Contestants’ Thoughts..
Steve Schuitt really liked Mark Joyner’s ability to breaking down and simplify what you want to accomplish. He can see how this would help you work much faster.
Thor Schrock speaks about Laura Martin’s negative morning attitude when she wakes and thinks it will be interesting to see how she will perform in the competition.
Jason Henderson appreciates hearing Mark Joyner live after seeing many of his peers apply Simpleology to their tasks to get more work done in less time.
FIRST EXECUTION CHALLENGE – Create a New Landing Page for Simpleology 101
Jason Marshall, for winning the Hacker Safe Immunity Challenge, is chosen by the judges to be a Team Leader for the next challenge. Jason picks Debbie Ducic to be Team Leader for the opposite team.
One by one the contestants are picked by Jason and Debbie to be on their team and given 15 seconds to come up with a team name.
Debbie Ducic, Nico Pisani, Carly Taylor, Thor Schrock, Christine Schaap, Charles Trippy form a team and call themselves “Bulls-Eye.”
Jason Marshall, Alisande Chan, Steve Schuitt, Jaime Luchuck, Jason Henderson, Laura Martin form a team and call themselves the acronym “KISS” for “Keep It Simple Stupid”.

Carly talks about her concern of the non cohesiveness of the group. She felt everyone went off in their own direction of how they thought the task should be done.
Jason Henderson compliments Jason Marshall on his leadership and ability to delegate well despite the fact that some teammates had more technical or marketing skills than Jason Marshall.
The contestants continue to brainstorm and discuss the aim of their presentations. The fourth law of Simpleology: The Law of Focused Attention – states we are more successful when we focus on what we want to achieve. The third law of Simpleology: The Law of Focused Energy – says we need to take focused action to reach our goals.
At some point, Cresta Pillsbury briefly interrupts the brainstorming and gives 5 e-commerce chips to Debbie Ducic, the Team Leader, to use in any way she felt it would help the team. Team KISS also received 5 e-commerce chips.
Jason Marshall speaks about Jason Henderson. He could see that Jason Henderson was not afraid to speak or jump up to take over. But he appreciated Jason Henderson’s respect of him as the leader as they were both humble in the way they approached each other.
Debbie explains the team’s strategy in their brainstorming session to Joel. She also explains speaking to Mark Joyner about Simpleology’s usefulness to the entrepreneurial woman and how she could be quite useful as a super affiliate to sell it to Gutzy women.
We see more of Mark Joyner’s speaker session as he speaks to the contestants. He states that the things we want in life are simple but we aren’t doing anything to accomplish them.
Carly worked on the copy but felt it was hard working in a group of opinionated and strong minded people.
She speaks of her tendency in that situation to step back and “take more of a back seat.”
The KISS team continues to work well together as they concentrate on their respective tasks while occasionally giving Jason Marshall feedback on their progress.
The Bulls-Eye team still continues discussing the target market of their sales page. Nico and Charles work on the video portion of the Bulls-Eye presentation and are working well together.
In a one-on-one interview, Nico talks of networking away from the COMMplex while sitting around a Jacuzzi with the imported rum and cigars he had brought to share with everyone.
Joel Comm gives the contestants their first opportunity to use their e-commerce chips. He announces that for 5 E-Commerce chips, either team can cut off 5 minutes off their required 15 minute presentation. Both
teams decline the offer.
Jason Henderson tells Cresta they purchased a Hacker Safe account to put on the Simpleology page so that people will feel more secure in signing up.
Cresta asks the Bulls-Eye group who their target market is, the group confirms they are focussuing on the professional entrepreneurial woman.
Joel offers both teams another opportunity to use their e-commerce chips. For 5 e-commerce chips, the teams can have an additional 15 minutes of preparation time for their presentations. Both teams accept the offer.
Steve explains KISS’s strategy to gather all their info in the first half of the prep time and practice the presentation in the latter half. He felt fairly confident in the team’s focus on the challenge.
THE PRESENTATIONS
Bulls-Eye Presentation
Debbie introduces the Bulls-Eye presentation first, and makes a mistake by incorrectly calling Mark Joyner’s program Ideology. She catches her mistake but continues on with the presentation and explains the overwhelming feeling she got from reviewing the large amount of information on the original Simpleology landing page.
Thor carries on the Bulls-Eye presentation outlining the importance of choosing a target market for a successful product launch. Christine Schaap then speaks of the target market the Bulls-Eye group chose to focus on, the over 40 female demographic.
Contestant’s Thoughts..Charles Trippy mentions Christine has a tendency to be set in her ways.
Carly is the Bulls-Eye’s next speaker and she explains the goal of their sales page was to be as unintimidating and simple as possible to attract the over 40 female business woman.

Charles and Nico talk about the video portion of the Bulls-Eye sales page. They explain and show a visual drawing of the video concept, a scene of a busy woman at home with chaos rewinding back to a scene with no chaos after she starts using Simpleology.
Judge’s critique of the Bulls-Eye Presentation
Joel comments on the group’s varying presentation styles. He then asks a question to Mark Joyner. Is Simpleology’s target market the middle aged woman?
Mark says “Probably not.” He goes on to explain that just because 80% of online purchases are from women, this does not imply they are the ones who will be the first to use the program.
KISS’s Presentation
Jason Marshall, Team Leader, starts with a magic rope trick to emphasize that everyone is not the same and are in fact different. Jason asks Mark Joyner what problem people have with Internet Marketers. Mark Joyner answers, “People don’t have as much trust.”

Jaime Luchuck carries on the presentation and explains why KISS has decided to add a video to the landing page. She tells us a visual dialogue helps personalize the message to the visitor, making them feel unique and recognized. Laura continues after Jaime’s portion by describing the video concept involving Mark Joyner. Jason Henderson adds that the video will also have testimonials of Simpleology users.
Alisande presents the actual written copy of the landing sales page by listing 3 common frustrations of project managers and small business owners.

Contestant’s Thoughts..
Steve Schuitt says Alisande is difficult to read because of her “poker face.”
Thor describes Jason Henderson as “a little overbearing” and has distanced himself from some of the contestants. He also mentions Christine Schaap was not thrilled at the JV proposition Jason Henderson makes to her.
Judge’s Critique of KISS

Joel compliments the visual presentation of the group, their idea of putting Mark Joyner in a video on the landing page, and the display of the “Hacker Safe” logo on the landing sales page.
Cresta comments that the groups copy was effective and made her want to learn more.
Presentation Critique of Bulls-Eye and KISS
Joel Comm finds it difficult to make a decision. He begins by saying Team KISS did well in utilizing all of its members but “had a hard time communicating exactly what the substance of the page was about.”
Joel Comm continues on to say Team Bullseye had “a copy and a target but a lack of cohesiveness
among the members of the team in communicating and clearly presenting what the Simpleology page would be all about.”
Joel finishes his critique by saying one team was able to successfully market their concept to the judges and announces Team KISS as the winner of the challenge. The team have a group hug as they realize they have received their first group immunity. As the winning team, Team KISS members were also awarded lifetime memberships to all Simpleology present and future products.
Team Bulls-Eye heads to the judgement room where 2 contestants will be eliminated.
Contestant’s Thoughts..
Jason Marshall is relieved the task is over and says there is so much more to go because that was just day one.
JUDGEMENT ROOM
Joel Comm starts the meeting in the judgement room apologizing he will be eliminating 2 contestants. He explains that because he receives many JV requests he needs to make sure he picks the right JV partner.
Joel asks the Team what is the shortest distance between two points. They all answer “a straight line.” He then goes on to say that the team had difficulty at times in concentrating and keeping focus on their task.
Mark Joyner comments to Christine about her reservedness and defensiveness when faced with something contrary to her opinion. Cresta compliments Christine on her focus.
Christine defends herself by saying that not being the Team Leader made it frustrating for her not to be able to express her idea as a possibility for the team to use.
Joel Comm and Mark Joyner comment on Thor’s strong personality. Mark critiques Thor’s performance during the challenge and felt Thor stepped up as a leader. However, Mark advises that though Debbie Ducic seemed overwhelmed, Thor could still “step up” but be more respectful of letting Debbie lead as she was the original Team Leader. Cresta felt the judges could have seen more coming from Debbie and didn’t think the leadership in this challenge was her strength.
Joel Comm says, “Debbie, Do you see, I see?” He continues to describe Debbie’s website, her auditions, her attitude, her accomplishments as all “Gutzy” but questions why her leadership fell apart.
Debbie explains her leadership style is different and admits she could have “gotten it more together.” Debbie tells Joel she feels she can still step it up if given another chance.
Mark talks about Nico and appreciates his gentle guidance of his team in trying to get them to focus. Mark also addresses the group and comments that because this is a competition, each of them needs to display more “gamesmanship,” each needs to “crank it up and show more hustle.”
Cresta likes the fact that Nico was focused through the challenge and went to Mark Joyner to utilize his expertise. She observed Nico asked Mark the questions that he needed answered while the rest of the group continued to debated on what they would be discussing. Joel also compliments Nico on the leadership qualities Nico exhibited and tells Nico to continue “ratcheting it up.”
Joel then addresses Carly. He is surprised he did not see “a ball of fire” in her performance. Cresta felt Carly had appeared completely inexperienced but does realize that Carly does have an indepth marketing background.
Carly admits she was terrified about speaking during the presentation. Because of her nervousness, the group had agreed it was alright for her to read her portion of the presentation right from her paper. Cresta comments that this might have hurt the group.
Joel turns his attention to Charles. He notes that Charles came alive after hearing Mark Joyner. He comments that he overheard Charles say “Wow, I’ve got to implement this stuff on my site when I get back. This is good stuff.” He feels Charles is beginning to see more what the Internet Marketing world is about. Mark advises Charles that his success can be his worst enemy. Cresta wants to know what Charles was thinking when his team was deliberating.
Charles expresses his attempt to listen to others ideas even though he had another impression of what he wanted and what he felt would appeal to people.
Contestants Tag Each Other for Elimination
Joel starts with Debbie and asks her to pinpoint two members she feels should go. Debbie targets herself for being the leader who let everyone down and Carly for her nervousness.
Carly targets herself for the way she presented herself and for “messing up the team.”
Charles starts off with being surprised that “everyone was so cool” and wished that he had been able to maintain the mentality of “screw them.” He continues to say though that “they are all nice people” and then targets himself for not speaking up at points he could have. Joel is not convinced that Charles believes he deserves to be eliminated and thinks Charles is “taking the bullet” to be a “nice guy.”
Christine bases her decision on the task and names Carly for her unassertiveness and Debbie for not showing good leadership.
Nico first chooses Carly and says she was a “non factor.” His second choice is Thor Schrock for his pushiness while working with the group. He ends his comments though commending Thor for his excellent presentation skills for the group.
Thor targets Debbie for not being a leader and Carly because she did not bring much to the challenge. Thor continues his explanations by defending himself and says “it is difficult in a pressure situation to not step on toes or count on the other person understanding that you don’t want to step on their toes, that you are just trying to get this done.”
Joel Comm’s Closing Critique and Observations
Joel warns Thor about his communication style. He tells Thor, “…that tongue, you have got to get it under control.” He states that Thor will be more persuasive and he sees a lot of promise in Thor.
He then tells Christine he knows she has to be strong and has a fire in her. He also sees the same fire in Carly. Joel especially sees a “ball of fire” in Debbie. But because her leadership did not bring the group together, there was continued uncertainty in her group even during their presentation, and a lack of enthusiasm on her team for their topic, she is targeted for elimination.
Between Christine and Carly, Joel feels Christine would continue bringing cohesiveness to the team and then targets Carly for elimination..
But this is not the end of the road. Joel explains that in the internet world, when a new website is created, it does not get immediately indexed but is placed in a holding period. He continues to tell Debbie Ducic and Carly Taylor that they will be put into a Sandbox, a holding area.
They can particpate in learning from the next guest speaker but not participate in any of the challenges. He further explains the “Sandbox” is a waiting period until such a time that they will be given the opportunity to redeem themselves.
With a thank you for their hard work, Joel then dismisses the group from the COMMplex.
Contestant’s Thoughts..
Steve Schuitt says that although it is Day One, he wishes he could be home relaxing because he is not use to the stress and pressure of the competition.
